Win, Loss As Basketball Takes On Glen Ridge

010914BoysBasketballThe Verona High School girls basketball team improved its record to 5-3 with a 32-18 win over Glen Ridge on Saturday. VHS senior Sarah O’Neil was the high scorer of the game, putting 17 points on the scoreboard and grabbing 11 rebounds. Caroline Kirnan, a junior, was close behind with 10 points and and equal number of rebounds. The Lady Hillbillies host Livingston High School on Thursday night, with a 7 p.m. tip-off.

The VHS boys basketball game dominated the first period of its Saturday morning game against Glen Ridge, but the Ridgers then took over and never looked back. Under the leadership of their senior Zach Thomas, the Glen Ridge team put up a 38-31 win over VHS in Verona. Frank Ferrari was the top scorer for Verona, with 10 points. The loss drops Verona to a 3-4 record. The boys host West Orange on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
