The Verona High School boys basketball team piled on the points in the fourth quarter against Millburn yesterday, but it was not enough to undo the damage of the third. Verona fell to Millburn 55-41, moving its record to 3-3.

Playing at home, the two teams were evenly matched in the first two quarters, and the first half ended with Millburn up by only two points. But the Millers put 18 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter, to just two from the Hillbillies. Verona regrouped and scored 21 points in the fourth.

Will Mulderry, a senior, was the top scorer for Verona with 14 points, followed by junior Dave Gautieri with 10. But Millburn’s Max Jacobs blew everybody else away with 28 points on the afternoon.

The Hillbillies host Glen Ridge on Saturday, January 10. Game time is 11:30 a.m.
