The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit has begun a new year of Sunday school classes for children of all ages each Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Holy Spirit’s interim priest Revd. Ronnie Stout-Kopp is passionate about the necessity for children to attend religious education. “Parents care so much about their children’s well-being and education but often forget that a full and meaningful life is only achieved when the spiritual is also part of the program. I have heard so many parents say they will let their children decide for themselves when they become adults whether they need God or not. If a child has no foundation in faith, it is very unlikely it will suddenly gravitate toward anything spiritual when he or she grows up. This means an entire dimension will be missing from that person’s life. I don’t think parents want to neglect this essential depth dimension in their children’s lives and souls. We at Holy Spirit believe faith is essential to children and youth and we provide a full and fun experience here every Sunday!”
Mother Ronnie (as the parishioners call her) adds “And by the way, statistically, we know that young people who have God in their life and stay active in their church, are far less likely to become involved in gangs, violence, and substance abuse.”
Stay tuned in weeks to come for an announcement of an upcoming Sunday School open house plus an in-depth introduction to the very experienced, knowledgeable, creative and enthusiastic Francine Perretta, the new Sunday School leader.
