Intili-AOW-Giuliano3The Verona Sports Boosters would like to congratulate Matt Intili as the Boys Senior Athlete of the Week.

When asked about favorite vacations he has been on, Matt responded by saying he really hadn’t been on one in the past two years. In those two years, Matt has not missed the football teams scheduled weight room work-outs once! That dedication and commitment led to his being named one of the captains of this year’s 6-0 football team. Through six games, Intili has run for over 500 total yards and five touchdowns. He set the tone early on Saturday by bolting 65 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage against Millburn.Intili-AOW-Giuliano2

When not on the football field, Matt can be found running both winter and spring track, where he has been a captain on each team since his junior year.

A steady dose of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pump-up music helps keep Matt strong and focused on the football field. Next year Matt hopes to be attending Temple, Drexel, or Syracuse and has not ruled out being a student athlete in college. Congratulations Matt on your hard work and the Verona Sports Boosters wishes you continued success.

During the 2014-2015 school year, the Verona Sports Boosters will recognize a different male and female senior athlete at Verona High School every week. The Boosters support male and female athletes in all VHS sports through a variety of fundraisers and recognition events.Intili-AOW-Giuliano1
