Real estate brokers, contractors, house painters and home improvement companies take note: Four of the top 10 stories on MyVeronaNJ.com in September were about residential real estate in Verona. House hunters should also take note: Many of the houses we wrote about in September have already been spoken for.

Two of our top stories were about big real estate projects: The collapse of a plan to convert the former Annin Flag factory into loft apartments and the return of a developer whose plans have twice been rejected by Verona zoning authorities.

Every month, MyVeronaNJ.com looks at what our readers have been reading, and we let you know if you have to catch up on them. Here’s what you might have missed in September 2014:

  1. Softball Field Vandalized: The field behind F.N. Brown elementary school that is used by the Verona High School softball program and recreational softball and soccer teams was hit by vandals during the last weekend of September.
  2. 7 New Listings, 7 Open Houses: If you believe in lucky numbers, this could be your weekend to find a new home in Verona: There are seven new listings in Verona real estate, and seven open houses.
  3. Annin Pulls Loft Plan: Annin Flag has withdrawn a plan to convert its iconic factory building into loft apartments. In May, the Town Council asked the Planning Board to do a study that could have started the building’s redevelopment.
  4. Six Homes Under $400,000: Yes, every week that goes by puts the recession farther and farther behind us. But if you are still house hunting on a tight budget, you might be happy to see what’s new to the Verona real estate market.
  5. Bloomfield Avenue Developer Returns: Dennis Handel has filed a new plan for a mixed-use development at 176-200 Bloomfield Avenue that is predicated on the idea that it needs no variances from Verona’s Planning Board.
  6. Superintendent Addresses Field Vandalism: Verona Superintendent of Schools Rui Dionisio sent us this email about the vandalism that occurred on the varsity softball field behind F.N. Brown school over the last weekend of September.
  7. Oktoberfest Marks Fifth Anniversary: It started as a way to help Our Lady of the Lake’s school become financially self-sufficient. But in the five years since the giant white tent rose over OLL’s parking lot, Oktoberfest has become an opportunity for the Catholic church to teach many different people about who it is and what it offers.
  8. Six Open Houses This Weekend: Open houses dominate the Verona real estate market this weekend. There are six of them, ranging from a 1 bed, 1 bath condo to a 6 bed, 3 1/2 bath mansion in the Afterglow section.
  9. Clarke Wins Labor Day 5K: The humidity level was 100 percent miserable in the center of Verona, but that didn’t seem to bother Morristown’s Ben Clarke one bit: He once again won UNICO’s Labor Day 5K race.
  10. Cross Country Steps Out In Branch Brook Park: It didn’t take freshman Maggie Ashley long to acclimate to cross country at Verona High School. In her first high school competition, she was the first Verona girl to cross the finish line at Branch Brook Park, and came in fifth overall in a field of 56.
