Prescription Drugs, Heroin–And Our Kids

MyVeronaNJ-HeroinOn Wednesday, October 8, at 7 p.m. drug recognition expert Joe Abrusci will discuss the rising heroin epidemic in New Jersey and how it affects our communities. There will be a panel discussion with law enforcement from Nutley and Verona as well as local parents and youth willing to share their stories and struggles with addiction. Juvenile Officers will discuss trends and statistics in our communities, SACs will provide early warning signs and steps to prevent drug addiction in your home followed by a Q & A.

The event is facilitated by the Verona Student Assistance Coordinator, Nutley Student Assistance Coordinator, and sponsored by the Verona Municipal Alliance Committee, Nutley Municipal Alliance Committee, Verona Police Department, Nutley Police Department, GCADA, and Nutley HOPE. It is designed to raise community awareness about the prescription drug and heroin epidemic in New Jersey and provide practical information to prevent drug addiction.

The event will be held in the Verona Community Center at 880 Bloomfield Avenue and it is open to the general public, educators, parents, and high school-aged students.
