All of God’s creatures gather at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit for St. Francis Day on Sunday, October 5 at 9:30 a.m.
All in the community are invited to bring household pets to be blessed by our interim priest. “We can all come together and celebrate the fullness of God’s creation and the interdependence of all creatures” says the Reverend Dr. Ronnie T. Stout-Kopp. “St. Francis of Assisi lived in the twelfth century, but had a vision that is relevant and vibrant for us today. Given our environmental situation, we need to bring his vision to life.”
Rev. Stout-Kopp has dogs and three horses with whom she and her husband share their lives. She recently performed a funeral at Snowy Mountain Pet Cemetery for a German Shepherd, Gretel, who was a hospital therapy dog.
So bring your cherished pets–properly restrained, of course–for a special blessing as we give thanks for the love of God shown to us by animals and remember our special duty to care for all God’s creatures.
