Boys Soccer Bests Cedar Grove

Thiago-Queiroz-CG2014Wayne Looney isn’t given to smiles or happy talk, but the Verona High School boys soccer coach had a big grin on his face as he addressed his team after Friday night’s 3-1 defeat of Cedar Grove. “Everybody out there did a great job tonight,” Looney said.

Everybody included senior Will Mulderry and sophomore Thiago Queiroz (pictured above), who scored the first two goals for Verona. Queiroz is only in his first year of varsity play and already has two goals to his credit. The third goal was the work of three-year starter Joe DeRosa, who salvaged an attempt by Mulderry after the ball bounced off the goal. We caught a clip of it here:
