Art, Movie, Vision At Library Open House

MyVeronaNJ-Verona-Public-LibrarySeptember is National Library Card Sign-Up Month and in celebration, Verona Library will be throwing open its doors and holding an Open House on Saturday, September 13, with a full day of activities planned.

9:30 a.m.: The Friends of the Verona Public Library Annual Member’s Breakfast, held in the Jack Foley Meeting Room. Members and those interested in joining the dynamic volunteer organization are invited for coffee, bagels, and other breakfast treats. A formal meeting of the Friends will follow at 10:00 AM to elect new Board officers and discuss upcoming events

11:00 a.m.: A visit from the Montclair Art Museum Art Truck, a mobile open studio, housed in a retrofitted ice cream truck, that will offer free art projects in pastels and lessons to adults and young adults.

1:00 p.m.: Cake and coffee with Library Advocate Mayor Robert Manley, Library Director, Library Trustees and staff. Discuss your visions for the Library, share your suggestions and sign up to participate in focus groups as part of the Library’s Strategic Planning process, an effort that will begin later this fall. All members of the community are invited to be a part of designing Verona Library for the 21st Century.

2:30 p.m.: The Fall Movie Series at the Verona Public Library will premier with the first in a selection of the Great Silent Movies. The feature stars “The Great Stone Face” in a film so polished and admired, MGM used it as a training film for its comedy filmmakers for years.
