After 21 years under the guidance of Father Mike Hanly, Our Lady of the Lake will be welcoming a new pastor on September 1.

Father Joe D’Amico is currently the pastor of Saint Aloysius Church in Jersey City. But long-time OLL parishioners will remember him well: He served as an associate pastor at OLL from 1995 to 1998.

Father Mike announced his retirement earlier this summer, and OLL will be thanking him for his service with two special events. This Sunday, August 24, there will be a farewell mass at noon, with refreshments to follow in the auditorium. On November 16, there will be a retirement party at the Villa at Mountain Lakes.

Father Mike’s retirement comes on the heels of changes at several Verona houses of worship. The Episcopal Church said farewell to Rev. LucyAnn Dure, while First Presbyterian experienced the retirement of its long-time leader, Erik Spencer. Rabbi Aaron Kriegel retired from Congregation Beth Ahm and was succeeded by Rabbi Mark Biller.
