Yogi Berra has spent a lot of time in Verona over the years. He was a public face at Henry’s and other places around town.
But there was a private side, shaped in the Montclair home that he shared with his late wife Carmen for decades. Mrs. Berra died in December, their home has been sold and Nye and Company, an auction house based in Bloomfield, has announced that it will be holding an auction of furniture and collectibles from the Berra’s home later this month.
The 300 lots include a Federal period butlers desk and secretary, a George III mahogany pedestal desk, vintage china and more. There will also be a few baseball collectibles, the auction house says.
According to Nye, the items will be posted at www.iGavelAuctions.com from July 23 to August 6, and its galleries will be open for viewing from July 28 until the sale closes, from noon to 4 p.m. daily. Nye is located at 20 Beach Street in Bloomfield.
