The Verona Public Library is once again doing its part to encourage summer reading in Verona. Elementary school children, pre-teens and even children who aren’t reading yet can participate by going to the library’s Children’s Department and picking up a reading log and summer book tote.
For pre-readers and elementary school readers, the library has set a goal of at least two hours of reading each week. These readers should write the title of the book they’re reading and how long they read at each sitting in their log book. After reading for two hours, children can return to the library with their log for a prize. There will be a new prize each week.
Middle school readers will submit a drawing entry for each four-hour block of reading completed. Prizes will be awarded just for this group at the grand finale program, which is Saturday, August 16 Wednesday, August 13, at 1 p.m.
While you are at the library, you can also register your children for entertainment events, which are held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.:
7/9 Science Telling – Using science to tell stories
7/16 The Lizard Guys – nature program with live critters
7/23 Verona Fire Truck Visit with Fire Marshall Bob Brenneck
7/30 Magician Workshop with Mark Zacharia – learn the secrets of magic tricks.
8/6 Guitar Bob – music for kids on the go.
