Verona Community Service Award
The Verona Lions Club
The Verona Lions Club is a service organization established in 1951 and is dedicated to the health and well being of Verona residents. They continue to provide services such as hearing and sight testing, and also collect eyeglasses to be refurbished and redistributed to those who can’t afford new glasses.
The club maintains a Hospital Loan Closet. In the event that a Verona resident requires a wheel chair, hospital bed, cane, crutches or almost any other health aid, the Verona Lions will deliver it to the resident’s home and set it up. They have donated a car to the town of Verona, which is used to transport the sick and elderly to doctor’s appointments both in and out of town, and the members of the Verona Lions Club volunteer to drive the car and provide the necessary transportation for an entire month every year. The Verona Lions Club raises money through various events and activities, with all of the money redistributed to various charities, organizations and individuals within the town of Verona who require assistance.
