Congregation Beth Ahm in Verona will present a concert by the acclaimed Jewish a capella group Pizmon on Sunday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m. Comprised of students from Columbia University, Barnard College and the Jewish Theological Seminary, this outstanding group of young musicians is coming to CBA fresh off their successful European tour and will perform a mixed bag of songs ranging from folk to Yiddish classics to Israeli rock to liturgical music.
The quality of Pizmon’s musical performances and its message of music as a source of inspiration are reflected in the events and venues at which it has performed, ranging from the distinct honor of singing at the annual White House Chanukah Party this past December to performing at Lincoln Center. They have toured worldwide and have garnered exceptional reviews both for their unique sound and their mission of community outreach.
The group will also participate in and lend their talents to Congregation Beth Ahm’s Shabbat services on Friday night, April 4 (6:30 p.m.), and Saturday, April 5 (9:45 a.m.).
As always, the synagogue welcomes the public at these services. There will be a dinner at the synagogue after Friday night services for which reservations by Tuesday, April 1 are necessary.
Tickets for the Sunday concert are only $10 in advance (by phone reservation or pick-up at the synagogue office) or $12 at the door. Synagogue office hours are Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
