And it is snow day Number 5 for the Verona public schools.
Superintendent Steven A. Forte has let us know that, because of the weather, Verona is scrapping the delayed opening plan for today and closing the schools.
Yesterday, the schools sent out an email letting families know that they will be taking back two days from the February break and turning them into half days. That let Verona put two more days in the snow day bank since we had only budgeted for four. If we go through the six snow days, the schools would take back time from Spring break.
Gov. Christie has declared a state of emergency for tomorrow and has ordered all non-essential state workers to stay home. The State Police are saying on Twitter that the Garden State Parkway has a speed restriction of 35 m.p.h. and drivers should stay off roads if possible. There are lanes closed on 287, 80 for crashes, and already 10,000 power outages.
