On Thursday, December 19, you can see international figure skaters perform live at the Codey Arena before they head to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Verona resident Steve Ruggiero is Codey’s director, and says that the lineup includes Verona native Matej Silecky; Anya Davidovich, a 2009 National Showcase medalist; Yevgeny Krasnopolski, a three-time Israeli national silver medalist; Alexei Bychenko, a qualifier for the Israeli team at the 2014 Winter Olympics; and ice dancers Artem Tsoglin, Allison Reed and Vasili Rogov, and Ronald Zilberberg and Kimberly Berkovich. The show will also feature the Essex County Synchroettes, Bravo on Ice, and local up-and-coming skating stars.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Essex Special Skaters Fund to support special needs skaters.

To give you a preview of the kind of skating you might see, this is a video of Reed and Rogov competing in the 45th Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany this past September.
