It was victory for Verona day on Monday, with wins for the Verona High School volleyball and boys soccer teams, and a sectionals win for girls tennis.
The volleyball team dispatched Montclair 25-9, 25-15 at Montclair. Eliza Sniatkowski again led her squad with 6 kills, 1 ace and 6 digs. Paige Ferrell had 11 service points, while Madison Misuro had 7 service points, 4 aces and 2 digs. Verona, which is now 10-6, hosts Newark Vocational Tuesday at home.
Back home on Centennial Field, the boys soccer team rallied in the final minutes of its encounter with East Orange High School, going from a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 win. Matt Braschi took a penalty kick to tie the game, and then Jack Farrell and Doug Spardel combined for the winning goal.
