Girls Cross-Country Team Off To Strong Start

The Verona High School girls cross-country team remains undefeated after two weeks of conference competition at Branch Brook Park.

Melanie Egan won the overall competition with respective times of 20:58 & 20:06 in both weeks. Following Egan is a strong core of runners that include Sarah Conboy, Amanda Flores, Julia Capuano, Emily Petermann, Gabi Horton, Ava Anderson and Madelyn Boyle.

The team’s dual meet wins have been against Cedar Grove, Columbia, Newark Tech, Newark Central and West Side. The girls will compete Friday, September 20 at the Maroon Invitational Meet at Garret Mountain.
