On Thursday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. the Verona Public Library will host the program “Second Season Harvest” with expert local gardener Eleanor Rose who will discuss the second growing season. Learn how to extend your fruit and vegetable harvest well into November by planning and planting cool weather crops now.
Eleanor Rose has an unconventional approach to living a healthy life. After a health crisis, she turned to gardening as a way to relax and developed a passion for gardening. When her health stabilized she returned to the corporate environment but her health deteriorated. Faced with memory loss from her disease she decided to write her gardening knowledge down. This journal became the book “The Naked Truth About Gardening: the Bare Essentials.” Eleanor is now healthy and is founder and president of her own gardening education corporation, Down & Dirty Enterprises LLC. She is also the creator of www.ANakedGardener.com, a virtual garden community where gardeners share stories, knowledge, humor, and a love of plants and flowers. Head of a historic community garden for 10 years, Master Gardener trained and member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Eleanor has detailed information on websites, tools, supplies and free resources to maximize plant growth. Eleanor is a passionate speaker who will make you laugh and cheer as she bids you Happy Gardening!
