Fireworks Fun On July 1

MyVeronaNJ-Fireworks2010UPDATE: The fireworks were postponed to Tuesday, July 2. The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona will once again be hosting a fundraiser at the Verona Fireworks on July 1. Stylists from Hair @ Alicia’s in Montclair will be on hand with red and blue extensions and hair color for purchase. The Juniors will also be selling red, white, and blue necklaces and LED light sabers.

Proceeds from the hair extensions and toys will be donated to The Seeing Eye. The Seeing Eye provides specially bred and trained dogs to guide people who are blind and is the State Project for the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs of GFWC – Junior Membership, for the next year.

In addition, the Juniors will be selling the Discount Card. The discount card is a card the size of a credit card that fits into your wallet and holds discounts to 22 local businesses. The cardholder shows his/her card and the featured businesses will honor the discount again and again from June 1, 2013 to November 30, 2013. The discount card costs $20 to purchase. The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is a versatile organization that has been involved in social and charitable work since its inception in 1926. The Juniors address Verona’s diverse needs by promoting education, preserving natural resources, encouraging healthy lifestyles, working on behalf of the elderly and people with disabilities, supporting participation in the arts and advocating for issues of concern to women, children and families.

Prospective members also are welcome at business meetings, which are held the second Wednesday of each month (except April, July, August and December) at 8 p.m. in the Verona Community Center. Tonight’s fireworks will be on the upper field at VHS. The DJ starts at 7 p.m. The fireworks start at dusk. The rain date is tomorrow, July 2.
