Bagelwich Heads Back To Verona Pool Snack Bar

The Verona Pool opens for the 2013 season on Saturday and it will be a homecoming of sorts for Bagelwich: The Bloomfield Avenue eatery will be back behind the counter of the pool snack bar for the first time since 2009.

Other things will be back too, like lower prices. Bagelwich owner Frank Oldewurtel knows that many pool-goers thought that the prices charged by last year’s vendor, Vending to Please, were too high. He says that, instead, you can expect prices and choices at the pool very much like what you would get from Bagelwich on the avenue. “Prices will be lower than last year,” he vows.

Bagelwich will be offering salads and wraps at the pool, along with the staples like cheeseburgers and hot dogs. Oldewurtel says Bagelwich will be offering pizza at the pool, and that soft-serve ice cream and milkshakes will be back. There will be combo pricing and specials, like steak sandwiches and pasta nights on some Fridays.

Oldewurtel is only asking one thing of pool patrons: Give him the Memorial Day weekend to get the new pool staff up to speed. “We look forward to having an awesome summer,” he adds.Frank-Bagelwich
