Lachina-BochicchioUnder picture perfect blue skies on Saturday, hundreds of young Veronans marched up Bloomfield Avenue for the start of the 2013 baseball and softball season.

There are 43 teams taking the field this spring, from Kindergarten to Pony league, plus travel squads. And if you plan on telling someone that your kids are on the As, Mets or Pirates, you’ll need to be specific about which league: There are six As, six Mets and five Pirates teams. In some households, the rooting is going to get complicated. Cousins and sisters Isabella Lachina, Rachel Bochicchio and Sara Bochicchio (above) represent three different teams.

Congrats to all the players. Now “Play ball”!
