Photographer: Ralph Powell

Kieran Powell and Brian Farrell were teammates on a formidable Verona Suburban basketball team from fifth through eighth grades. They became rivals in high school as Farrell played for Verona High School and Powell played for MKA.

They are still friends–and still rivals. Powell now plays for The Catholic University of America and Farrell plays for the University of Scranton, teams that are members of the NCAA Division 3 Landmark Conference. Scranton visited Catholic on January 19 in a battle for first place in the Landmark Conference.
