If you know a senior citizen in Verona who needs to get more fresh vegetables into their diet, you might want to pass this along. The Verona Health Department has food vouchers available that can been redeemed at local farmers markets. The vouchers are available through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
To be eligible, seniors must have an annual income less than $20,147 ($1,679 monthly or $840 twice a month) for a single person and $27,214 annual income ($2,268 monthly or $1,134 twice a month) for married persons. The vouchers are a $20 value per single individual and $40 per married individuals.
Applications are available at the Verona Health Department at 880 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona, which you must complete in person between the hours of 8:30 a.m. through 1 p.m. and again from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Proof of identity and income are required. That means things like a tax return, Social Security or Medicaid card for income and a drivers license or utility bill for proof of residency.
