Alex Teves, Aurora Shooting Victim

Alex Teves, a young man who spent his childhood in Verona, was among those killed at the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo. on July 20, 2012. He was 24.

His death was confirmed by his father, Tom Teves, to ABC News. He told the news organization that his son was killed as he attempted to block his girlfriend from being shot. The young woman, identified only as Amanda, was not hit.

Alex Teves and his family had lived on both Grove Avenue and Mountain Road in Verona. The family moved to Arizona and Teves graduated from Desert Vista High School in the Phoenix suburb of Ahwatukee in 2006. He was attending graduate school at the University of Colorado at the time of his death.

Funeral arrangements are not yet known.
