Vanessa Almodovar Caban, 35, was granted her angel wings on June 21, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends and always in the company of her loving and caring husband Julio Caban, who never left her side. Vanessa had touched many throughout her short life.

A mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Saturday, June 30 at 10 a.m.

Born in Orange, Vanessa was a lifelong resident of Verona.

She graduated from Verona High School in 1995, loved running, cooking and working out.

Along with her husband, Julio, Vanessa is survived by her brother, Carlos Daniel Almodovar (and his wife, Claudia), her grandfather, Ezequiel Rodriguez, Sr., her step father, Angelo DiLeo, her Aunt, Iris Rodriguez, her uncle, Ezequiel Rodriguez, Jr. and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Carlos and Leida Almodovar.

Vanessa’s life seemed too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time which one lives. Her loving smile, warm, compassionate ways, and pleasing personality brought so much joy to her friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

  3. It is not often in life that we are touched by an Angel. Vanessa had and will always have a special place in my heart. Her radiant smile and infectious personality made you yearn for more and more of her. Never looking for anything more then a little time together and wonderful conversation with all the people she truly loved. To me she was the perpetual gift one that keeps giving and giving and never asking for anything in return.
Unfortunately Julio and Vanessa had a very short time together, yet in my entire life I have never met two people more in love.
She cherished people coming together and loving one another. So let us all give her and her loving husband Julio the greatest gift we can give. Take time to tell all your friends and family how much you love them and the next time you get angry and are not happy about some little thing in life, stop and tell all those wonderful people in your life that you love them.
Let us all from this day forward in Vanessa’s memory love like we have never loved before and her life will have really serve and important purpose to all of us.
God Bless you Julio and Vanessa,
I will try to do my part!
    With all my love,
    Angelo

  11. I found out about this just 2 nights ago. Vanessa was the most amazing and compassionate person I ever worked with. She was my partner at PNY in the IT department and made sure that every day was a happy one. She is one of a kind and I will never forget her. She loved Julio her husband, very much and spoke about him frequently. They shared a love only storybooks can come remotely close to describing. She was the best and is now smiling down on us. God Bless WR
