Caldwell College, in conjunction with the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, will host the third annual Wheelchair Basketball Event on Tuesday, March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Newman Center Gym. Admission and campus parking are free.
Attendees will enjoy watching the New Jersey Bulova Nets, a professional wheelchair basketball team, play against members of the Caldwell College community. An inter-squad scrimmage will follow, to show everyone how “it’s really done.” Other highlights will include a DJ, light refreshments, raffle prizes and the Caldwell Cougar.
“This event is great for families, and I encourage parents to bring their children,” said Abbe Benowitz, director of disability services at Caldwell College. “It is a wonderful opportunity for people to learn about the world of adaptive sports. It is inspiring, exciting and educational. This is our third year hosting this event but our first year working with Kessler. We are thrilled to be teaming with them and know this year will be bigger and better than ever. While the event is free, we do accept donations and all proceeds benefit the Wheelchair Sports Federation.”
