On Veterans Day, NBC Nightly News ran a piece on growing efforts to establish and promote veteran-owned businesses. The cameras stopped–all too briefly–at Don Johnston’s Subway sandwich franchise at the intersection of Bloomfield and Pompton Avenues. Johnston, you might remember, is a U.S. army veteran who served in Iraq who was so impressed by the Subway outposts set up for the troops that he decided to make one his own.
