Recycle Your Sneakers With The Tennis Teams

The Verona High School tennis program is partnering with Nike to turn old sneakers into new playgrounds.

Beginning today, Thursday October 20, you can drop off worn sneakers from any manufacturer into bins that will be available at every Verona public school. There will also be a bin at the October 29 home football game. The tennis teams are looking to collect 500 pairs of sneakers by November 10.

There’s a video on Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe Web site that shows you what it does with the shoes. There’s no financial benefit to the VHS teams from the program–just the knowledge that they’re keeping landfill dumping to a minimum and helping to start some new sports facilities.
