When Floyd Cardoz’ cooked on Top Chef Masters, there were a lot of high-end ingredients that would be budget busters for ordinary home cooks. But Cardoz showed just how much he understands the world the rest of us inhabit on CBS’ “Early Show” the past Saturday. The show has a new feature called “Chef on a Shoestring,” which calls on restaurant pros to make a three-course dinner for four for just $40.
The first two challengers were Marco Canora of Hearth and Christopher Cipollone of Tenpenny at The Gotham Hotel, who spent $36.33 and $36.42 respectively. But Cardoz, who will open North End Grill in Battery Park this fall, blew them both away with a meal for just $33.54:
- Heirloom Tomato Salad
- Chicken Thighs with Vegetables
- Tapioca Pudding
The recipes are here, the video on how to do it all is below.
