The Pont Du Gard in southern France, a favorite biking vacation.

It’s fun to share vacation photos. You get to make somebody smile; you get to make somebody jealous. You get to discover that your favorite spot on the planet is also someone else’s. You get to relive memories of a childhood haunt or daydream about where you want to go.

And so Verona, we’d like to ask you to share your vacation photos with us. It can be a trip you took this summer, or a vacation from decades ago. Maybe it’s a summer jaunt to the Jersey Shore, or a winter ski trip. Or maybe it’s not a vacation you’ve taken at all; maybe it’s where you want to go if you hit the lottery, your ship comes in, or this crazy messed up global economy comes to its senses.

However you define vacation, e-mail your absolute best vacation photo to us at [email protected]. Tell us where and when the photo was taken, and a little bit about why it’s your favorite vacation photo.  If you are borrowing the photo from someplace else, however, like the photo of Taormina Sicily on our homepage or the shot of southern France here, make sure you take it legally: Photos from Flickr need to have a Creative Commons license to be shared on a site like ours. If in doubt, send us the URL and we’ll check.

What are we going to do with all these photos? Run a contest of course. We’ll put them to an audience vote and give the winner a prize. The deadline for all photos is Thursday, August 18 at midnight.

Now, what are you waiting for?
