Where In Verona Is It? Flags Contest

Share post:

Sure, you know that Verona has a lot of patriotic spirit. We put on a great Memorial Day parade and Fourth of July fireworks, and our elementary schools have their Flag Days and Red,White and Blue assemblies. But have you ever stopped to look at all the flags around town, flags that are there every day of the week, 365 days a year?

Fred Goode did, and Verona’s flags are the subject of this week’s Where In Verona contest. It’s a doozy. Fred has taken photos of the flag at seven different locations around town, and every day, you’ll get a new image of the flag at that location. The person who identifies the most flags correctly wins.

We’ve used our nifty new slideshow technology (which we debuted Saturday with the Verona Eagles football slideshow) to create one slideshow for each location. Today, there’s only one flag image in each slideshow. But every day this week, we’ll add another image to each slideshow to give you more clues about the location. As always, put your guesses in the Comments field, with your real name and real e-mail address.

THURSDAY UPDATE: Now there are four photos in each slide show, a flag, its base and even more background details.

  5. In addition to my previous answers…

    1 is Annin (can’t believe it! )

2 is the bank across from the police station (Community Bank?) and next to Sonnys

    5. Is the Decozen Car Dealership or is it technically on the Fire Station property (Across from Everett Field)

  6. Are you sure #2 is American savings bank (which is what I said yesterday)? It really looks like it…it’s across the street (sort of) from Fairview Ave.

  7. Well, you’re right. There is a bank at Bloomfield and Fairview, and that is where the flag is. The name is actually Investors Savings Bank, but I’m feeling in a generous mood this morning, so I’ll award you the hat. Congratulations, and wear it proudly!

  8. It USED to be American Savings Bank…I couldn’t remember the name of the bank when I saw it yesterday and American Savings Bank is what came up when I Googled names of banks in Verona.

Of course with all the changes in banks who can keep track???

I still think of Chase as Bank of NY and remember when BoA was Montclair Savings (am I showing my age here?)
