Dawn DuBois

The $28.4 million Verona school budget for 2011-2012 passed tonight by a vote of 724 to 543. The budget will add $104 per year to the average Verona assessed home, which is the lowest increase since 2001.

Dawn DuBois will be joining the Board of Education as a new member. DuBois was the lone candidate for the one seat up for election after incumbent Steve Spardel withdrew from the race.

Turnout was dismal. Verona next goes to the polls on May 10 for the Town Council election. You can follow that race through our Election Guide, and come to the MyVeronaNJ election forum on Tuesday, May 3, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
