African American Beauty At The Newark Museum

The Newark Museum has just opened Posing Beauty: African American Images from the 1890s to the Present. The show, which runs through April 28, looks at how African-Americans have been photographed, both in the past and more recently. Posing Beauty features approximately 125 works drawn from public and private collections including those of Carrie Mae Weems, Eve Arnold, Sheila Pree Bright, Garry Winograd, Bruce Davidson, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, Mickalene Thomas and Timothy Greenfield-Sanders.
