Children Having Individual Learning Differences (C.H.I.L.D.) will hold a free workshop with attorney Jayne Wesler on Tuesday, January 11, on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The talk, entitled, “You Can’t Punish A Kid For Being Disabled”, will explore how the law protects students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
Wesler, an attorney and licensed clinical social worker, will cover such topics as functional behavior analysis, behavior intervention plans, free appropriate public education, interim alternative educational settings, and manifestation determination review.
The workshop will be held at 7 p.m. in the Verona Community Center Fireman’s Room, which is on the second floor of the main community center building.
C.H.I.L.D. is a parent-run non-profit organization that provides support to both parents and educators in the Verona school district. For more information, see its Web site.
