The Verona High School Marching Maroon & White is practicing hard for the state championships in Sewell, N.J. this Sunday after losing the U.S. Scholastic Band Association Competition in Mount Olive last Saturday by–get this–three-tenths of a point. Although the band came in second to Somerville High School, they won Best Visual Performance and Best Percussion, and Daisy Bourne was recognized for her leadership as drum major with an award that Mount Olive High School gives out every year in honor of one of its band directors.
