The big real estate Web sites do a great job of sorting available homes by price and zip code. They can help you winnow out condos and co-ops, and the foreclosures that still seem to dominate the search results. But if you really, really want to send your kids to one particular elementary school in Verona, you’re out of luck on the search sites. Remarkably, perhaps, in this age when so much information is so easily searchable, nobody has thought of building that in as a filter.
That’s where we come in. Over the next few weeks, MyVeronaNJ will be sorting Verona’s residential real estate listing by elementary school, starting with Laning Avenue. The reason is quite simple: Laning has been in my family a long time. I went there, once upon a time. So did my sisters, and my dad and most of my other relatives.
It’s one of Verona’s biggest elementary schools, in terms of enrollment and floor space, and the most handicapped accessible, with a huge gym added just two years ago. If you want the official statistics on what kind of school Laning is, click here.
Now for the houses. The Laning district, roughly speaking, is the northeastern corner of Verona. It tends to have modest-sized homes, and some of the oldest homes in town. Here’s what’s available for sale now, arranged in price from low to high:
