Turtle Back Zoo has gotten two new African penguins and Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. would like to get your help in naming them.
If you’ve got an idea, you can get a nomination form at the zoo or use the form on the county’s Web site (look for the link to the PDF in the right-hand column in the “Events” section.) Kids are welcome to enter, but they must have the permission of their parents or guardians. And the county says that if you like, you can also make a $1 donation that will be used to maintain the Penguin Coast exhibit. There are now eight penguins in the exhibit, which re-creates the rocky, South African coast where the birds are found.
Entries will be accepted until Monday, July 26 at noon and the winning names will be announced on Thursday, July 29.
