F.N. Brown School has been recognized by the ARC of Essex County for its generosity to children in need during the holidays.

According to Sue Brand, director of family support services at ARC, a non-profit that provides services to people with developmental disabilities, while the Verona elementary school has been donating toys and gifts to ARC for several years, the gift-giving this year “was unprecedented”. Maggie Lambert, a member of the F.N. Brown SCA, coordinated the wrapping of the presents with a code that indicated if it were for a boy or a girl, and the best age.

“This allowed us to give an appropriate new and wrapped holiday gift to everyone at our Shapiro Center and Home Assistance holiday parties,” Brand wrote in her nomination of F.N. Brown. “The children were thrilled to have a gift that was new and that they could open themselves.”

NOTE: A previous version of this story misidentified the person accepting the award for F.N. Brown in the photo. It is F.N. Brown SCA President Dana Socchi.
