At last week’s Board of Education meeting, there were more announcements of new hires, retirements and re-assignments. The three new administrators for the Verona School system were introduced: Nicole Santora is the district’s new math-science supervisor and Patrick Higgins is the new supervisor for humanities for grades K through 12; both will begin work on July 1. The new positions reflect a re-structuring of the previous system of having a subject teacher also function as subject area coordinator. The new director of facilities, Paul McDevitt, was also introduced.
HBW science teacher Elsie Villavecchia is also retiring this year; VHS guidance counselor Harriette Warshaw will move to the Guidance Department at the middle school. Lisa Torchia will replace Pat DiStefano as administrative assistant at Brookdale Avenue School.
