Beginning in September, Verona will have a new food supplier for the middle and high school cafeterias. Superintendent Charles Sampson announced at this week’s Board of Education meeting that the district has been losing money on the present provider, Aramark. The new provider, Pomptonian Food Service of Fairfield, N.J., is “one of the finest” companies in the state, he said, and it guarantees a profit to the schools.
According to its Web site, Pomptonian provides options such as a full salad bar, vegetarian selections, fresh deli sandwiches and flavored tortilla wraps, and online ordering. ” I am confident that Pomptonian will work even more closely with our schools to provide healthy and appealing food options for our children,” said Sampson. “I believe it is a positive move on both the health and business side of the ledger.”
