Frank Melitti, the crossing guard at the intersection of Lanning and Elmwood roads, is recovering at Mountainside Hospital after suffering a heart attack over the weekend. Sergent Smith of the Verona Police Department says surgeons put two stents in Melitti’s heart and that he is now resting comfortably. Laning parents are taking up a collection for Melitti in case you want to help out.

If anyone would like to make a donation please send me an email, chefquag@verizon.net, or you could slip it into my mail slot at 71 Newman Ave. Although Frank is doing well, he is the primary caregiver for his wife who is in a wheelchair. They have a rough few months ahead of them and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Palma Quagliata

Absolutely! We love Frank. I knew something was very wrong when I didn’t see him the past 2 days. God Bless he and his wife.

    Frank,

What a wonderful, caring man who thinks of others before himself. When the kids lose a tooth Frank says ” hold on a minute I have something for you” Frank then goes in his pocket and pulls out a case that has dollar coins. Now is the time we can give back and help him when he needs us the most. May God heal your heart and bring you back to complete health.
