April 20, 2010
By

Former Verona resident Fred Hill Jr. has reportedly accepted a settlement from Rutgers University to step down as basketball coach. Hill had been coaching at Rutgers since 2006 and posted a career record of 47-77.  Rutgers confirmed Hill’s resignation last night, but declined to discuss details of the settlement, which the Star Ledger reported here. The decision came just two days after Hill’s father, head coach of Rutgers’ baseball team, posted his 1,000th career win.
