Here’s What Happened To The Verona Inn

Long-time manager John Mac Evoy is trying to get the VI back in business.

So our appeal for information about what happened to the Verona Inn was answered, and by a very authoritative source: The bar’s long-time manager, John Mac Evoy.

He tells us that the Verona Inn closed last June after a fully loaded car carrier drove over and collapsed the property’s aging septic system, and the property’s owners declined to make the necessary repairs. Mac Evoy, who had operated the VI for the last 20 years, says he had been trying to purchase the bar from a group of cousins who had inherited it, but without much luck. He is still, however, trying to buy the Verona Inn and advises MyVeronaNJ’s readers to “stay tuned……”.
