Fire Call On Linden

The Verona Fire Department responded quickly to a house at 156 Linden at about 4:30 p.m. on December 31. The call shut down Linden Avenue between Woodland Terrace and Cumberland Avenue, but it did not appear to be as serious a situation as the two recent fires at 40 Kenwood Avenue and 6 Woodland...

Glen Ridge has announced that, beginning January 1, its trash hauler will pick up recyclables curbside every week, instead of twice a month. That means, for those of you still scratching your heads over Verona’s collection calendar, that Glen Ridge residents...

Police Tweets?

A funny thing happened the other day when we went looking for other people in Verona who were using Twitter, like us: We found the Fairfield Police Department. Cops using a technology most often associated with Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears? (Note to the uninitiated: A message sent from Twitter is called a “tweet”.)...

It’s great to see a professional hockey game live. But chances are that, even if we weren’t still mired in a recession, most of us would think twice about paying at least $50 apiece for non-nosebleed Devils or Rangers tickets for the entire family.
